The Treat Lab

When The Stick in the Mud opened we could not find the kinds of treats and food we wanted to serve so we put an oven behind the bar, hired a baker and got to work!
 
Since then, we built the Treat Lab - our big kitchen in the back - that keeps our bakers busy 7 days a week. The Treat Lab serves our bar, as well as catering and baking for wholesale. Many of our recipes came from our first baker, Debbie M, and every baker who has ever worked here has left their mark on something we make.
 
Muffins, cookies, squares, cakes and treats of all sorts...Daily surprises, soups, wraps, sandwiches on home made foccaccia and Sooke’s most popular breakfast, The Egg-a-majig (a thingamajig with egg!) all come from the Treat Lab.
 
We do some gluten free.  We do some dairy free.  But mostly we do delicious.  We do not cut corners on quality because the founding principle for everything we serve is if we would not feel good feeding it to our kids, we will not serve it to our customers.
